Superordinate classification: U00-U49 Provisional assignment of new diseases of uncertain etiology
The key numbers U04.0-U04.8 of this category shall enable a quick reaction to current epidemiologic phenomena. They can only be used additionally, in order to indicate an elsewhere classified condition. The key numers of this category can only be defined by DIMDI (German Institute of Medical Documentation and Information); a use for other purposes is not allowed. DIMDI will announce the period of application of such key numbers if needed. The key number U04.9 has been registered since January 1, 2004 as additional key number, in order to indicate diseases where SARS is underlying, e.g. in case of a SARS-pneumonia: J12.8 B97.2! U04.9!.
